How to set up IPTV Smarters

By Mi TV Latino Team · Updated on

IPTV Smarters Pro is the player we recommend by default: it exists for Android, Fire TV, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Windows, Mac and many Smart TVs, and it is set up the same way on all of them. Learn to do it once and you can do it on every device in your house.

Before you start

You need the details we sent when your account was activated, which are always in your client area:

  • Username and password.
  • Server URL, complete and with its port.
  • Or, as an alternative, your M3U playlist, a single long address that already carries the username and password inside it.

Both routes end up in the same place. The first one is better.

Xtream Codes or M3U playlist: which to pick

Choose Xtream Codes API whenever the app lets you. With that method the app organises everything into Live TV, movies and series, pulls in the programme guide and knows when your account expires.

The M3U playlist is plan B: it works when the player does not support Xtream Codes — which happens with some Smart TV apps — but it usually gives you one long channel list, with weaker categories and no guide.

Setting it up with Xtream Codes API

  1. Open IPTV Smarters and accept the app terms.
  2. Choose Login with Xtream Codes API.
  3. Fill in the three fields:
    • Any name: whatever you like. It is only a label to tell profiles apart.
    • Username and Password: exactly as we sent them, respecting upper and lower case.
    • Server URL: complete, with http:// and with the port.
  4. Press Add user.

The app takes a few seconds to download the catalogue. When it finishes you will see Live TV, Movies and Series.

Setting it up with an M3U playlist

  1. On the home screen choose Load Your Playlist or File/URL.
  2. Give the profile a name.
  3. Paste the complete M3U URL into the link field.
  4. Press Add user and wait for it to load.

These are worth a minute, because they are the difference between “it works” and “it keeps stopping”:

  • Hardware decoding. Turn it on in the player settings. On modest devices — a basic Fire Stick, a TV a few years old — this is what removes the stutter.
  • Buffer size. Raise it one notch if your internet is uneven: channels take slightly longer to start, but they stop pausing halfway.
  • Playback format. If a group of channels will not start, change the format in the settings. It is the first thing we try in support.
  • Refresh the guide (EPG). If the schedule is empty or out of date, force a reload from the settings.

Common errors and how to get out of them

“Invalid credentials” / “Please check your details”. Nine times out of ten it is the server URL. Check it is complete, with the port, with no trailing space and with nothing changed by your keyboard autocorrect. If you copied it from WhatsApp, type it by hand. If it still fails, check in your client area that the account is still active.

It logs in but no channels appear. Usually a half-finished load. Delete the profile and add it again; the app downloads the catalogue afresh.

One specific channel will not open. If the rest work, it is not your setup. Try another channel in the same group and tell us which one fails.

Everything cuts out every few minutes. That is the connection, not the app. It is all in how to fix IPTV buffering.

“Max connections reached”. More screens are watching at once than your plan allows. Close the app on another device — fully close it, not just leave it in the background — and log in again.

Frequently asked questions

Does it cost money? The Pro version is paid in some stores and the basic one is free. Either way that payment belongs to the app, not to us: your account works the same in both.

Can I use the same account on my phone and my TV? Yes, within your plan screen limit: three at once on the standard plan, and there are four-screen plans.

Does it work on iPhone and Apple TV? Yes. In the Apple ecosystem the player is usually called Smarters Player Lite, and it is set up the same way: Apple TV guide.

Are there alternatives? Yes, and some are better depending on the device. We compare them in the best IPTV app for your device.

Where will you be watching from? See which channels you get in Peru, in the United States or across Latin America.

Getting an error that is not listed here? Message us on WhatsApp with a photo of the screen and we will tell you what it is. No account yet? See the plans.
