How to install IPTV on Fire TV Stick

The Amazon Fire TV Stick is, along with an Android TV Box, the easiest device for IPTV: it costs little, plugs into any TV with HDMI and lets you install the player directly. This guide takes you from start to finish, with the settings that actually matter and what to do when something does not work first time.

Before you start

Have three things ready:

Your login details: username, password and server URL. We send them when your account is activated and they are always in your client area.
A stable connection: around 10 Mbps gives you HD without stutter; about 25 Mbps for 4K. If you can, connect the Fire Stick to the 5 GHz network instead of 2.4 GHz — it is the single biggest difference you will notice.
An up-to-date Fire Stick, its remote and about ten minutes.

1. Turn on developer options

On recent Fire Sticks the developer options are hidden. Go to Settings → My Fire TV → About, highlight your device name and press OK seven times in a row. A notice appears telling you developer options are now on.

If your Fire Stick is older, skip this: the Developer options menu already shows inside My Fire TV.

2. Allow apps from unknown sources

Go back to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options and turn on Install unknown apps (some versions call it Apps from Unknown Sources). If it asks you to pick an app, authorise Downloader.

This does nothing strange to your device: it is the standard Android permission for installing outside the store, and you can turn it off again when you are done.

3. Install the player

Open the Fire Stick search (the magnifying glass, top left) and type IPTV Smarters Pro. If it shows up, install it and you are done.

If it does not — availability in the Amazon Appstore changes by country and by date — take the long route, which always works:

Search for and install Downloader from the Amazon Appstore.
Open it and type the player APK address in the URL field.
Press Go, wait for the download and confirm Install.

Open IPTV Smarters and choose Login with Xtream Codes API. Fill in:

Any name: whatever you like, it is only a label (Mi TV Latino, for example).
Username and Password: exactly as we sent them, respecting capitals.
Server URL: the one we sent, complete and with its port.

Press Add user. Within seconds you will see three blocks: Live TV for live channels, Movies and Series for the on-demand catalogue.

5. Settings that stop buffering

With the app working, spend a minute on this:

Hardware decoder. In the player settings, turn on hardware decoding (HW decoder). It moves the work onto the Fire Stick chip instead of the CPU and removes most stutter.
Buffer size. Raise it one notch if your internet is uneven. Channels take slightly longer to start, but they stop cutting out halfway.
Close what you are not using. The Fire Stick has little memory: with six apps open in the background, video is the first thing to suffer.

If something fails

“Invalid credentials” or it will not log in. It is nearly always the server URL copied wrong: check it is complete, with the port, and with no trailing space. If you copied it from WhatsApp, make sure no invisible character slipped in. If it still fails, check in your client area that the account has not expired.

It logs in but channels will not load. Try changing the playback format in the player settings. If one channel fails and the rest are fine, it is that channel, not your setup.

It cuts out every few minutes. Almost always WiFi. Move the Fire Stick closer to the router, switch to the 5 GHz network, or use an ethernet adapter — that is the definitive fix if the TV is far from the router. There is a whole guide on this in how to fix IPTV buffering.

The app closes by itself. Go to Settings → Applications → Manage installed applications, open the player and press Clear cache. You will not lose your session.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a 4K Fire Stick? No. The basic model is perfectly fine for HD. The 4K one makes sense if your TV is 4K and your connection keeps up.

Can I use it on several TVs? Yes, within your plan screen limit: three at once on the standard plan, and there are four-screen plans. Each screen can be on a different channel.

Does the same account work on my phone? Yes. The same details work in any compatible player; only the number of screens watching at once counts.

What if I take the Fire Stick travelling? It works the same: it only needs internet, it is not tied to your home.
